In summer, Rovaniemi flips from polar night to the midnight sun — around the summer solstice, the sun barely sets and daylight lasts 24 hours. It's a completely different, magical side of Lapland.
When it happens
Because Rovaniemi sits on the Arctic Circle, it has a period around June when the sun stays up (or barely dips) all night. The nightless nights create a surreal, golden glow.
Summer activities
Hiking, river cruises, SUP, fishing, mountain biking, husky-cart rides and visiting Santa Claus Village (open year-round) — all under endless daylight. Temperatures are pleasantly warm.
No aurora in summer
