Sorting your chargers before a Lapland trip is easy. Finland uses the standard continental European setup.
Plug and voltage
Finland uses Type F (Schuko) plugs — two round pins — with 230V / 50Hz. It's the same as most of mainland Europe.
What you need
- From the UK/Ireland: a UK-to-Type-F adapter.
- From the US/Canada: a US-to-Type-F adapter, plus a voltage converter for any device that isn't dual-voltage.
- From India: a Type D/M to Type F adapter (Type C also fits).
Most phone, laptop and camera chargers are dual-voltage (check for "100–240V" on the label) and only need a plug adapter.
Cold-weather tip
Cold drains batteries fast. Carry spares, keep them warm in an inner pocket on aurora tours, and a power bank is invaluable.
