Overview
Packing for a family Lapland trip is easy with a checklist. Tours provide the heavy outer gear, so focus on good layers.
Layers (everyone)
Merino/synthetic base layers and leggings, fleece or down mid layers, wool socks (spares!), and warm pyjamas. Avoid cotton next to the skin.
Extremities
Insulated waterproof boots, warm hats, balaclavas, liner gloves plus mittens, and plenty of hand/foot warmers — kids feel the cold fastest.
Extras
Lip balm and moisturiser, sunglasses, a power bank and Type-F adapter, any child medicines, and a camera or phone for the aurora. See our full packing guide.
