The Ruka Coaster is a genuinely unique Lapland attraction: the world's northernmost roller coaster, winding 767 metres through the snowy hills of the Ruka ski resort — and you set your own speed with a brake lever, so it's as gentle or as thrilling as you like.

What it's like

Each cart seats one or two people and follows a track that dips and curves down the fell at up to around 40 km/h. Because you control the brake, it's exciting for teens and adults yet gentle enough for children.

Family snow fun

Ruka is a friendly resort with sledding, snow play and cafés, making it a great family day out beyond the coaster itself.

How to visit from Rovaniemi

Ruka is a scenic drive from Rovaniemi, so the easiest way to go is a guided Rovaniemi to Ruka Coaster day trip with transfers — no winter driving required.

Good to know

The coaster runs through the winter season, weather permitting. Dress warmly, and check height and age guidelines for young children.
