Santa Claus Village is a free, year-round Christmas theme park just outside Rovaniemi, built right on the Arctic Circle. It is the official hometown of Santa Claus and one of Finland's most famous attractions — you can meet Santa in person any day of the year, cross the Arctic Circle line and send a postcard from his official Post Office.

Crossing the Arctic Circle

The Arctic Circle (66°33'N) runs right through the village's central square, marked by a painted line. Stepping across it is the classic Rovaniemi photo, and you can buy an official Arctic Circle crossing certificate as a souvenir.

Meeting Santa Claus

Santa is available to meet every single day of the year, free of charge. A professional photo or video of your meeting costs extra — personal photography during the meeting is not usually allowed, so budget for the official photo if you want a keepsake.

The Santa Claus Main Post Office

Send a postcard postmarked from the Arctic Circle, or use the famous service to have a letter delivered to your home at Christmas. The post office is free to enter and one of the village's highlights.

Opening hours

The village itself is open and free to enter year-round. Individual shops, cafés and Santa's office have seasonal hours — broadly around 10am–5pm, extended in the peak December season. Always check current hours before you go.

How to get to Santa Claus Village

The village is about 8 km north of Rovaniemi city centre and right next to Rovaniemi Airport. You can take local bus number 8, drive, or join a guided tour with hotel pickup. Our Santa Claus Village Tour includes door-to-door transfers from your Rovaniemi accommodation.

Can you see the Northern Lights at Santa Claus Village?

Yes, on active nights — but the village has some light pollution, so for the best aurora experience combine your Santa visit with a dedicated Northern Lights tour that drives to darker skies.
