Shoot the Aurora Like a Pro

Whether you shoot on a DSLR, a mirrorless camera or just your phone, our photography tour is built to get you gallery-worthy Northern Lights images — and to teach you how. It's led by a guide who is also an aurora photographer, in a small group so everyone gets hands-on help.

We set your camera settings together — aperture, ISO, shutter and manual focus to infinity — choose foregrounds that give the aurora scale and drama, and position you on frozen lakes for that mirror-reflection effect that makes the best shots.

You'll also receive a set of professionally edited photos of your group under the lights, so even if you're new to night photography, you leave with images to treasure and the skills to repeat them.

Northern Lights Photography Tour FAQ

No. A DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual mode is ideal, but modern phones in night mode also capture the aurora beautifully. Your photographer guide coaches you on whatever you bring, and tripods are available to borrow.

We set everything together in the field: a wide aperture (f/2.8 or wider), ISO around 1600–3200, a shutter of 4–15 seconds, and manual focus set to infinity using a bright star. You'll learn to adjust for faint versus active displays.

Yes — a set of professionally edited images of your group under the aurora is included, so you leave with gallery-quality photos even if you're new to night photography.

Very much so. It's small-group and hands-on, so beginners get personal coaching from a guide who is also an aurora photographer. You'll come away with great images and the skills to repeat them.
