Pilke Science Centre is a hands-on, family-friendly attraction in Rovaniemi devoted to Finland's northern forests and how people live with them. It's a great warm indoor activity, especially with children.
What's inside
Interactive exhibits let kids operate a forest-harvester simulator, explore how wood becomes everyday products, and learn about Arctic nature — all very tactile and fun.
Who it's for
Families with children love it, but it's genuinely interesting for adults too. Allow around an hour, and it pairs well with the neighbouring Arktikum museum (they're in the same building complex).
Good to know
Pilke is open year-round with seasonal hours; check current times and combined tickets with the Arktikum.
Fit it into your trip
A perfect daytime activity before an evening Northern Lights tour.
