A reindeer farm visit is one of the most heart-warming things to do in Rovaniemi — gentle, cultural and perfect for all ages. You'll meet the animals at the heart of Lapland life.
What you'll do
Feed the reindeer by hand, learn about their role in Sami and Finnish culture, and usually enjoy a peaceful sleigh ride through snowy forest. Many visits end with hot drinks by a campfire in a lávvu (tipi).
Sami herding heritage
Reindeer herding has sustained the indigenous Sami people for centuries. A good farm visit shares this living culture, and you may even receive a "reindeer driving licence" souvenir.
Great for families
There's no minimum age or exertion, making it ideal for young children and grandparents. See our reindeer safari guide.
Add the aurora
Pair a daytime farm visit with an evening Northern Lights hunt for a perfect Arctic day.
