Oulanka National Park is one of Finland's most beautiful winter landscapes — deep snow, frozen rivers and pine forests bowed under thick white frost. This guided snowshoe tour takes you off the beaten track and into the silence of it.
After getting equipped at the safari office, we drive to Juuma and set off on snowshoes through the snow-covered forest to the beautiful Myllykoski rapids, crossing the hanging bridge above the running water. It's a gentle 4–5km route that takes about 3.5 hours including the drive.
Pickup is available from Rovaniemi, or as a longer day trip from Rovaniemi — perfect for nature lovers and photographers of all fitness levels.

Not at all. Snowshoeing is easy to pick up — if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Your guide shows you how at the start, and all equipment is provided. The 4–5km route is gentle and suitable for most fitness levels.

Snowshoeing to the frozen Myllykoski rapids and the little hanging bridge was breathtaking. Total silence, snow-laden pines, and hot chocolate by the old mill. Gentle enough for a first-timer like me.
